Dr. Vincent Bernard

Adjunct Professor

Dr. Vincent Bernard is a lawyer specialised in human rights, international humanitarian law, and humanitarian action, with more than 25 years of experience leading global law, policy, and humanitarian programmes.

Dr. Bernard served as Senior Policy Advisor at the International Code of Conduct Association (ICoCA) in Geneva (2021–2025.

In parallel, he has been actively engaged in academic teaching and research, lecturing at institutions including the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, and LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, and regularly advising military academies and international organisations.

Previously, he held senior leadership roles at the International Committee of the Red Cross, including Editor-in-Chief of the International Review of the Red Cross and Head of the Law and Policy Forum, where he led global research, education, and advocacy initiatives.

He holds degrees in international public law and international relations from the Graduate Institute Geneva, along with law and political science degrees from the University of Strasbourg and King’s College London.
