Climate Diplomacy in Practice: Transformational Learning Among UAE Youth at UNFCCC Negotiations
This Insight examines how participation in UN climate negotiations shapes the learning, confidence and agency of young people, using the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a case study. It explores the barriers that limit meaningful youth engagement in climate diplomacy, including financial, bureaucratic and procedural challenges, and examines the UAE’s initiatives to support youth participation. The Insight highlights the importance of moving beyond formal representation towards more substantive involvement, enabling young people to contribute meaningfully to international climate negotiations and policymaking.
