Dr. Jean Fares is an accomplished economist, team leader, having 25 years of experience in economic development, Finance, public policy and government work.

He is Senior Advisor to the UAE Minister of Economy, where he advises on economic policy, digital transformation, and long-term growth strategies, working closely with senior government leadership and multisector stakeholders. He is also Chief Executive Officer of Investopia and led investopia, the UAE’s investment platform for new economic sectors, shaping its strategy and overseeing execution, budget, recruitment and fundraising.

Dr. Fares has held senior positions across leading international and governmental institutions, including the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Labour, and the World Bank. Earlier in his career, he also served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the American University of Beirut, and a Senior Analyst at the Bank of Canada.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Université de Montréal, along with higher academic degrees from the University of Western Ontario and the University of Alberta.
