Dr. Alessandro Arduino

Dr. Alessandro Arduino is a leading expert on private security, private military companies, and the security dimensions of China’s global engagement. With over two decades of experience focused on China, he is the author of China’s Private Army and Money for Mayhem and is widely recognised for his analysis of emerging conflict dynamics and the role of private actors in modern warfare.
He serves as the Advisory Group of the International Code of Conduct Association for private security companies and holds academic affiliations with King’s College London, the Geneva Graduate Institute, and the Royal United Services Institute. Dr Arduino regularly advises governments and international organisations and is a frequent commentator in leading international media.
Dr Arduino holds a PhD in the Science of Communication from the University of Milan-Bicocca, a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from SOAS, University of London, and a Master of Arts in Oriental Studies (China) from the University of Turin. He has also completed advanced economics training at the World Bank Institute and specialised coursework in Big Data Modelling through the University of California, San Diego.
He is fluent in Italian, English, and Mandarin Chinese, and was appointed a Knight of the Order of the Italian Star by the President of the Italian Republic.
