Dignity in Climate-Induced Displacement: A Call for Adaptive Migration Solutions in Ethiopia
This Insight explores the interlinkages between climate change and displacement in regions where slow-onset climate events pose significant risks to vulnerable populations. It sheds the light on the absence of international legal frameworks that enable safe and orderly movements for people facing slow onset climate events. The insight suggests that the UAE can play an active role in setting policies that integrate climate adaptation with humanitarian and development objectives. Finally, it provides policy recommendations including considering labour movement as an adaptive mobility strategy, investing in infrastructure and capacity building, and establishing climate-anchored legal protection mechanisms for migrants
