Communication and Outreach

Job Objective:

The Communications & Outreach Director will develop and execute the marketing, public relations (PR) and communication strategies, manage the academy’s events and coordination of sponsorships to promote and advance Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy’s (AGDA) brand and increase its visibility on the global stage. Under the direction of the Director General, the Communications and Outreach Director will develop and implement a comprehensive communication and outreach strategy consistent with AGDA’s strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

Strategy and Planning

  • Establish inbound and outbound marketing strategies to further enhance AGDA’s outreach in the UAE, region and beyond.
  • Develop and implement AGDA’s corporate communications plans with cost-effective marketing and outreach strategies and action plans.
  • Help ensure that AGDA’s philosophy, mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the Academy.
  • Ensure alignment of marketing strategies and action plans with AGDA’s strategic objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and refresh as necessary AGDA’s brand identity and execution of brand awareness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key local, regional, and international media outlets.


  • Supervise the creation, writing, editing and production of internal and external publications, including but not limited to press releases, videos, collateral, newsletters, social media content, reports, and other printed materials.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all AGDA collaterals and communication channels.
  • Set and manage the budget allocation of the department, including contracts of relative agencies and sub-contractors, from new projects to retainer agreements. Work closely with media sources to ensure strong relationships are established and maintained with external interest groups, the public and the media.
  • Manage all employee communication and engagement initiatives through periodic newsletters and off-site events. Supervise all PR activities including but not limited to arranging visitors’ meetings, press coverage for events, and supporting corporate campaigns.
  • Maintain responsibility for diplomatic protocol issues when necessary.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of corporate marketing, communications and promotion activities, costs, and results.
  • Lead on the admission campaigns of the academy.
  • Plan and manage participation of “brand ambassadors” at recruiting events and other student and alumni events.
  • Plan and manage outreach to UAE students abroad, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation (MoFAIC) and its relevant embassies abroad.
  • Continuously enhance and maintain of the academy’s communication channels including its website, publications, social media, and other media tools.
  • Manage media relations with internal and external partners and stakeholders.

People Management

  • Assist the Human Resources (HR) department in continuously promoting AGDA’s values through internal communication to build cultural understanding, employee loyalty and engagement.
  • Ensure appropriate workflow management between staff through appropriate delegation of work.
  • Monitor the performance of staff on an on-going basis, conduct performance reviews against agreed goals and ensure effective staff development.
  • Responsible for the development of the department’s capacity including training and coaching the staff and helping them in acquiring the necessary skills to aid in their career development.

Monitor and ensure staff wellbeing through the promotion of a positive office environment.

Job Specification


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Social and Political Science. Master’s degree preferred in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or any related field.

Relevant Experience

  • Preferably 7+ years of relevant experience in a related field.


  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications, and PR activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diplomatic functions and operations.
  • Committed to the mission and vision of the Diplomatic Academy.
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English. (More languages are a plus).
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.
  • Energetic and personable; takes initiative and thinks creatively.
  • Effective in managing timelines and project budgets.
