Salman Anees Soz
Adjunct Professor
Salman Anees Soz is an economist, author, and commentator. He is currently a Senior Consultant at the World Bank, where he has served in various capacities since 1995. He has worked on a range of economic development issues in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Sub Saharan Africa, and South Asia. He is a recipient of the World Bank President’s Award for Excellence. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in Abu Dhabi since 2022.
His professional interests include political economy, emerging market economics, and South Asian politics. His latest book, co-authored with Ajay Chhibber, “Unshackling India: Hard Truths and Clear Choices for Economic Revival” (Harper-Collins) was listed by the Financial Times as one of the best new books in economics for 2022 and also placed on the FT's 2022 Summer Reading List. The book also won the India Economic Forum Literary Award for 2022. His commentary on politics and economics appears regularly in major Indian and international publications. Salman Soz holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Yale University (New Haven) and a Master's degree in Economics Northeastern University (Boston). He received a BA (Hons.) in Economics from St. Stephen's College (Delhi), where he was the elected President of the Students' Union Society.
