Dr Jean Fares is an Economist and Senior Advisor to the United Arab Emirates government. Since 2012, his work focuses primarily on strategic planning, public policy, governance, innovation, and economic development. He has led several partnerships with international organizations. Prior to that, Dr Fares worked as a Policy Advisor to the UAE Minister of Labour and a member of the Labour Ministry’s Policy Council.
Dr Fares spent several years at the World Bank in Washington DC, working on the Bank’s global employment agenda, World Development Report, and its operations in Bosnia, China, and Turkey. Earlier in his career, Dr Fares was an Assistant Professor at the American University of Beirut and a senior analyst in the Bank of Canada. He holds a Ph.D in Economics from the University of Montreal and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
